Equestrian Center Working Student
Trinity River Farm & Equestrian Center accepts individuals for the working student program who are already proficient in English riding in one more area including hunter/jumper, dressage, and eventing. Please contact us for more information about the working student program.
Physical Demands of Work: Standing and walking, lifting up to 25lbs. occasionally.

Horse Party Lead Line Helper
This individual will assist in the horse and pony ride portion of our children’s birthday parties by helping to tack-up horses and ponies and leading guests mounted on ponies and/or horses around the arena. May assist children don riding helmets and mount and dismount from horses. This person may help to supervise children visiting farm animal petting zoo. Some knowledge of horses is helpful but not necessary. Experience around farm animals is helpful. Assistance and instruction is available. Good interpersonal skills, comfortable around children, and a friendly attitude with the general public is essential.
Physical Demands of Work: Standing and walking, lifting up to 25lbs. occasionally.

Horse Camp volunteer I
Trinity River Farm & Equestrian Center conducts spring break camps in March, and summer horse camps from June through August each year. Volunteers are needed to assist campers with horses, grooming and tacking up, standing by to assist during lessons, and helping with classroom activities. Experience with horses is required.
Physical Demands of Work: Standing and walking, lifting up to 25lbs. occasionally.
Other: Must be 15 years of age or older.
Horse Camp Volunteer II
Adult volunteers are needed to supervise and assist campers during non-riding activities such as arts & crafts, classroom activities, lunchtime, and barn chores. Experience with horses is helpful but not necessary.
Physical Demands of Work: Standing and walking, lifting up to 25lbs. occasionally.
Other: Must be 21 years of age or older.
Horse & Livestock Helper & Groomer
This individual will assist by catching and haltering horses and bringing them to the barn for grooming or farrier work (hoof trimming by a professional). Grooming activities will include brushing horse, combing mane and tale, and cleaning horse’s feet. This individual will assist other farm staff with activities such as holding horses during hoof trimming and holding other small livestock such as sheep and goats during grooming and other maintenance activities. Prior experience with livestock and/or horses is helpful but not necessary. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who have always wanted to learn about horses to do so.

Grounds Maintenance Helper
This individual will assist with light maintenance activities such as gathering fallen wood to be used as firewood, and relocating it to the picnic area for use in campfires. Individual may also help with general pick up and of any trash or refuse around the farm. Individual may assist with light cleaning, very simple maintenance such as tightening screws or light hammering, light gardening or occasional painting. Experience driving an ATV or tractor is desirable but not required. Experience with use of simple tools, such as hammers, screw drivers, rakes, etc.

Trinity River Farm & Equestrian Center has occasional paid positions for part-time farm work.
Assistant Riding Instructor
Individual may work with all ages from children to older adults providing instruction, coaching and guidance in one or more riding disciplines including but not limited to English equitation, dressage, hunter/jumper, and eventing. Instructors will provide teaching and instruction in basic horse management, such as haltering, leading, tacking up, un-tacking, and basic horse safety.
Riding instruction will include teaching the student the meaning and use of the basic aids within their discipline, transitions through the gaits, and correct riding of the walk, trot, canter and gallop as appropriate to the student’s development.
Instructor is responsible for assessing the student’s level of understanding and expertise, and will plan and execute riding exercises within the lesson time frame in keeping with both the student’s goals, and the goals deemed necessary by the instructor for the student to advance.
Qualifications –
1. Individual should be 18 years of age or older.
2. Individual should be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
3. Individual must demonstrate good riding skills at the walk, trot, and canter, and be able to jump a small course of 2’ jumps.
4. Individual should demonstrate good horsemanship skills including safe ground management and knowledge of horse behavior, tacking up, grooming and basic health care.
5. Individual should be able to interact with the general public appropriately with tack, diplomacy, or to enforce safety and facility rules as required by the situation.
6. Able to handle constructive criticism appropriately, whether coming from a student, parent, or supervisor.
7. Able to work with groups of riders and work under pressure.
Livestock Feeder & Farm Hand
This individual is responsible for feeding horses and livestock during AM or PM feedings. Individual will provide feed and hay to horses and livestock according to feeding schedule, and fill water troughs as needed. Individual is required to drive a feed van. Individual should have experience handling horses and small livestock.
Individual helps with stall cleaning for barn kept horses, and helps more horses from barn to pasture areas.
Physical Demands of Work: Standing and walking, bending and stooping, pushing and pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

Horse Camp Counselor
This individual is responsible for instructing children in riding and horsemanship and other activities, such as educational classes, games, and arts and crafts. Individual should have demonstrated competency in English riding, and should have prior horse camp experience. Individual must be proficient tacking and untacking English ridden horses. Applicant should have good oral communication skills and ability to work effectively with children. Experience working with children is required.

Party Helper
This individual is responsible for cleaning, organizing and preparing picnic area for birthday parties and events at the facility. Individual should have good cleaning skills and organizational ability. Individual must have ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to work efficiently on time deadlines. Individual may occasionally help with horse/pony lead-line rides for children. Individual should have good people skills and be comfortable meeting the general public.
